OCBC Secures Top Regional Ranking

Singapore's OCBC has been named the strongest bank in Asia Pacific and Singapore, securing the third position globally in the TAB Global 1000 World’s Strongest Banks 2026 ranking. This assessment, conducted by TAB Global, highlights the bank's diversified income streams, careful balance sheet management, and overall financial resilience.

The comprehensive evaluation covered seven dimensions, including sovereign risk, profitability, and asset quality, distinguishing OCBC among its regional peers.

Diverse Revenue Fuels Record Income

OCBC's financial strength stems from its varied revenue base. In 2025, the bank achieved record operating income, boosted significantly by its wealth management, insurance, and trading operations. Non-interest income contributed 41% of its total operating income, surpassing the 40% median for the world’s top 10 strongest banks.

Wealth management fees saw a 33% increase, with assets under management (AUM) reaching SGD 343 billion ($267 million). The bank's return on assets (ROA) stood at 1.2%, exceeding the 1.1% median of its global peers.

Sound Asset Quality and Capital Strength

The bank maintained sound asset quality, reporting a non-performing loan (NPL) ratio of 0.9%. This figure remains below the Asia Pacific median of 1.5%, supported by substantial loan-loss reserves. OCBC also demonstrated robust capitalisation, with a total capital adequacy ratio (CAR) of 19.4%.

This was the third highest among the world’s top 10 strongest banks, exceeding their median of 17.8% and the Asia Pacific median of 14.4%. Maintaining strong capital and liquidity remains a priority for OCBC.

Strategic Growth Amidst Uncertainty

OCBC's financial foundation allows it to pursue its “The Next Frontier” strategy, focusing on technology and talent investments while maintaining cost discipline. This strategic approach aims to balance growth opportunities with prudent risk management.

The bank's strong capital and diversified earnings position it to navigate geopolitical uncertainties and evolving trade patterns, supporting its expansion across ASEAN and Greater China markets. Investors can observe the bank's continued investment in these capabilities as a measure of future growth.
