JB Financial Group posts record nine-month profit
The South Korean banking group announced a record net profit of 595.7 billion won for the first nine months of the year, marking a 2.9 percent increase from 2025.

Record Earnings for January-September
JB Financial Group announced on Tuesday that its net profit reached a record 595.7 billion won ($450 million) for the first nine months of 2026. This figure represents a 2.9 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
For the third quarter alone, covering July to September, the group's net profit attributable to shareholders rose 0.8 percent year-on-year to 210 billion won. Both results mark the highest figures recorded for their respective periods, according to the banking group.
Revenue Growth Outpaces Operating Profit
The banking group's revenue also saw significant growth, with third-quarter revenue climbing 13 percent annually to 1.27 trillion won. Cumulative revenue for the first nine months of 2026 increased 9.2 percent from a year earlier, reaching 3.75 trillion won.
Operating profit for the third quarter, however, slightly missed market expectations, growing 3.5 percent year-on-year to 291 billion won, against a consensus of 295.3 billion won. Over the January-September period, cumulative operating profit advanced 6.8 percent to 817.9 billion won.
Subsidiary Performance and Capital Ratios
Key management indicators remained solid for the third quarter, with return on equity (ROE) at 13.3 percent and consolidated return on assets (ROA) at 1.08 percent. The preliminary common equity Tier 1 (CET1) capital ratio stood at 12.39 percent.
JB Financial Group noted its focus on enhancing asset efficiency by increasing the proportion of higher-return businesses relative to risk-weighted assets (RWA), which grew 5.1 percent through the third quarter.
Its main subsidiaries also contributed solidly: Jeonbuk Bank posted 72.5 billion won in net profit, Kwangju Bank recorded 82.4 billion won, and Cambodian unit PPCBank achieved 14.3 billion won.
In line with its shareholder return strategy, JB Financial's board of directors approved a quarterly dividend of 317 won per common share. A group official stated that the company plans to continue improving profitability, supported by stable capital ratios. The aim is to expand shareholder returns further, thereby enhancing corporate value.
This approach signals a focus on sustained financial health and investor confidence for the South Korean banking sector, potentially influencing capital allocation decisions by regional investors.
