Ant International Secures Brazil Payment Licence
Ant International obtained a payment institution licence from Brazil's central bank. This approval expands its local and cross-border payment services in the country. The move deepens Ant International’s presence through its Antom platform.

Brazil Approves Ant International Expansion
Brazil's central bank has issued a payment institution licence to Ant International. This regulatory approval allows the Asian fintech company to broaden its payment offerings within the country. It also expands its cross-border transaction capabilities. The licence demonstrates a deepening of Ant International’s operational presence in the Brazilian market.
Leveraging Existing Antom Platform
Ant International already operates in Brazil through its Antom platform. Antom supports local businesses by enabling them to accept Pix, credit cards, and other payment methods. The platform also provides embedded credit and treasury services. Additionally, it delivers financial artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain solutions to its clients.
Global Scale and Local Strategy
Ant International processes over 20 million transactions daily across its global network. The company connects two billion consumer accounts with 150 million merchants worldwide, according to its own figures. Rodrigo Reif, General Manager for Ant International Brazil, stated the licence enables more reliable global payment and account services.
These services target Brazilian enterprises, platforms, and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This expands collaboration within Brazil's developed payments ecosystem.
This regulatory approval allows Ant International to solidify its footprint in a significant Latin American market. It shows the company's strategy to expand its global reach beyond its traditional Asian base. For other Asian fintech players, this move highlights the potential for international expansion into diverse, digitally advanced economies. It also demonstrates the importance of securing local regulatory compliance for global growth strategies.
