New Vessel Orders Announced

Yangzijiang Maritime Development (YZJ Maritime) disclosed on 18 September that it has commissioned 24 new vessels from various Chinese shipyards. The newbuilds are scheduled for delivery between 2028 and 2030. The company plans to finance these acquisitions through a combination of equity co-investment and debt. This order follows a bourse filing made on the same date.

Expanding Fleet and Future Capacity

With these latest orders, and including options for an additional 16 vessels, YZJ Maritime's newbuild portfolio will reach a total of 98 ships. The company has already delivered seven newbuilds, with one transferred under a vessel sale contract. Currently, 75 vessels are under construction, 12 of which have been resold, including one under a sale contract.

The new 24 vessels will adhere to International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) standards, incorporating advanced technical and environmental specifications and eco-friendly features.

Strategic Vision for Maritime Growth

Ren Yuanlin, Executive Chairman of YZJ Maritime, stated the company observes “attractive opportunities” throughout the maritime sector. He noted that adding these 24 vessels reflects the company's confidence and its commitment to utilising proven, eco-compliant designs.

These designs meet the evolving demands of an industry increasingly shaped by environmental regulations and the shift towards lower-emission shipping.

Share Performance and Monetisation Strategy

Mr Ren added that the new vessels will enhance and modernise YZJ Maritime's fleet, potentially offering stronger earnings visibility and long-term growth. The company will continue to assess leasing and resale opportunities to maximise returns for its shareholders, aligning with its proactive monetisation strategy. Following the announcement, YZJ Maritime's shares closed 3.5% higher at 58.5 cents on 18 September.
