Vietnam semiconductor exports surge, boosting logistics demand
A FedEx and Frost & Sullivan report reveals Vietnam's semiconductor exports grew 31.8% annually from 2006–2025, reaching US$32.4 billion in 2023, driven by AI and EV demand.

Vietnam's Semiconductor Growth
A report by FedEx and Frost & Sullivan shows Vietnam’s semiconductor exports grew 31.8 per cent annually from 2006 to 2025. Over the same period, the country's semiconductor imports rose by 30 per cent each year. This growth establishes Vietnam as a key participant in the Asia-Pacific semiconductor ecosystem.
In 2023, Vietnam exported integrated circuits valued at US$32.4 billion. This reflects its increasing importance in global semiconductor trade flows.
AI and EV Drive Demand
The report, titled 'From AI to EVs: How APAC Semiconductors Drive the Global Innovation Map', identifies strong demand for artificial intelligence (AI), high-performance computing, electric vehicles (EVs), and advanced communications as primary growth drivers. These technologies fuel increased semiconductor production and investment in digital infrastructure.
This includes an anticipated build-out of over 2,000 new data centres worldwide between 2026 and 2035. Such expansion further increases the need for advanced chips and supporting equipment.
Complex Supply Chains, Critical Logistics
The escalating complexity of regional and global semiconductor supply chains makes fast, reliable transport and shipment tracking increasingly vital. Asia-Pacific forms the core of the global semiconductor industry, generating approximately 58 per cent of its revenues. Vietnam, alongside other Southeast Asian nations, is emerging as a hub for semiconductor assembly and testing.
Its established electronics manufacturing base and competitive costs attract investment. This drives demand for efficient logistics services. To support this, FedEx added an outbound flight from Nội Bài International Airport in September 2025, improving connections to Asia and Europe.
As Vietnam deepens its integration into the regional semiconductor network, dependable and efficient connectivity to major markets becomes paramount for companies operating across Asia. Semiconductor production often spans multiple Asian hubs, from design to fabrication, packaging, and testing. This creates interconnected supply chains requiring robust logistics.
Businesses prioritise faster international shipping; 44 per cent of surveyed respondents cited it as their most important consideration when selecting logistics partners, according to the FedEx and Frost & Sullivan report. This focus on speed and reliability helps mitigate challenges like geopolitical disruption and cross-border trade complexities.
