India's RBI Cancels Five NBFC Operating Certificates in August
The Reserve Bank of India revoked operating certificates for five non-banking financial companies last month, preventing them from transacting business under the RBI Act of 1934.

RBI Revokes Five NBFC Licences
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) cancelled the operating certificates for five non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) throughout August 2026. This action prevents these firms from conducting business as financial institutions under the RBI Act, 1934. The cancellations were issued on various dates last month, signaling the central bank's ongoing regulatory scrutiny of the sector.
The affected entities are now barred from any financial transactions defined for NBFCs, ensuring compliance with India's financial regulations.
Affected Companies and Legal Basis
The five companies whose registrations were revoked include Dar's Financial Services Pvt Ltd, Rolta Holding and Finance Corporation Private Limited, Vasudeo Securities Pvt Ltd, Parsoli Corporation Limited, and A. C. Choksi Financial Services Pvt. Ltd. (also known as Deus Financial Capital Private Limited).
The RBI exercised its authority under Section 45-IA (6) of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934, to implement these cancellations. The original registration dates for these firms ranged from March 1998 to April 2018, with their operating certificates cancelled between August 3 and August 31, 2026.
Regulatory Oversight in India
The RBI's consistent application of its powers in revoking NBFC registrations shows its commitment to maintaining stability within India's financial system. This regulatory measure ensures that only compliant and solvent entities operate as non-banking financial institutions.
Such actions are part of the central bank's mandate to safeguard depositor interests and prevent systemic risks. The RBI regularly reviews NBFC operations, ensuring adherence to capital adequacy, governance, and asset quality norms across the sector.
The financial sector in India continues to operate with strong oversight from the central bank. These cancellations reinforce the RBI's strict stance on regulatory compliance for NBFCs. Market participants will likely monitor future RBI press releases for any further announcements regarding regulatory actions or policy adjustments within the non-banking financial sector.
The next scheduled review of NBFC performance data by the RBI is expected in its annual report, typically released in the third quarter of 2027.
