NephroPlus Philippines Reaches 50-Clinic Mark

NephroPlus Philippines, the local arm of Asia's largest dialysis network, has surpassed 50 operational clinics across the country. To mark this expansion milestone, the company launched a kidney health medical mission for the Mangyan Indigenous Community in Sitio Lagonglong, Oriental Mindoro.

This initiative extends the company's commitment to healthcare beyond its clinical facilities, focusing on prevention and awareness within underserved communities. The company reported it now operates 53 clinics nationwide.

Community Health Engagement

The medical mission, conducted in partnership with the Municipal Government of Baco, provided health screenings and educational sessions to approximately 265 community members. Participants received practical advice on kidney disease prevention, understanding risk factors, and the importance of early detection.

NephroPlus Philippines' nephrologists and dietitians offered individual health counselling, alongside free blood pressure, blood sugar, and creatinine tests to assess kidney function. Referrals for further medical evaluation were provided as needed.

Advocacy Complements Dialysis Care

Gowtham Arumugam, Country Head of NephroPlus Philippines, stated that growth in the healthcare sector should reflect community impact, not just clinic numbers. He emphasised that kidney health advocacy is crucial for complementing the company's primary service of dialysis care.

By raising awareness and promoting early detection, the company aims to help individuals safeguard their kidney health and seek timely medical intervention. This strategy supports the firm's goal of expanding access to quality dialysis care throughout the Philippines.

Why it matters

This blend of rapid expansion and community engagement by NephroPlus Philippines illustrates a growing trend in the Philippine healthcare sector: private providers are increasingly partnering with local governments to extend essential services.

For investors, this model highlights opportunities in public-private collaboration for healthcare infrastructure and service delivery, particularly in areas outside major urban centres.

The focus on preventative health alongside specialised treatment suggests potential for investment in integrated care models that address broader public health needs, potentially reducing long-term costs associated with chronic diseases.
