GoTyme Bank Expands Global Remittance Reach

GoTyme Bank, a joint venture between the Philippines' Gokongwei Group and multi-country digital banking group Tyme, has expanded its cross-border remittance capabilities. The bank's "Send Money Abroad" service now facilitates transfers to over 200 countries and territories, supporting eight different currencies.

This move aims to simplify the process for customers sending, receiving, and managing money internationally, particularly as the holiday season approaches. GoTyme Bank President and CEO Nate Clarke emphasised the bank's commitment to connecting people through secure and transparent financial services.

Transparent Transfers and Diverse Receiving Channels

Customers initiating international transfers via the GoTyme Bank app benefit from clear, upfront information. Before confirming any transaction, they can view all associated fees, the prevailing exchange rate, estimated arrival times, and the precise amount their recipient will receive.

For Filipinos receiving funds from abroad, the bank offers multiple direct deposit options into their GoTyme Bank accounts. These include international bank transfers via SWIFT, powered by Wise, as well as through supported remittance partners such as TapTap Send, and participating Visa partners.

Holiday Raffle Boosts Customer Engagement

To incentivise international transactions during the Christmas season, GoTyme Bank has launched a promotional raffle running from September 16 to November 30. The campaign offers overseas Filipinos the chance to win round-trip flights and cash prizes.

This initiative is supported by key partnerships, with Cebu Pacific serving as the official airline partner and TapTap Send acting as a leading global remittance provider. Five grand prize winners will each secure round-trip economy flights for themselves and a companion, along with additional prizes designed to enhance their homecoming experience.

To participate, customers must opt-in and earn one raffle entry for every international remittance of at least P5,000 sent or received directly through the GoTyme Bank app.

Why it matters

GoTyme Bank's enhanced remittance offerings and its holiday promotion intensify competition within the Philippine fintech sector and for traditional banks. This strategy could prompt other financial institutions to innovate their cross-border payment services or introduce similar customer loyalty programmes.

For the substantial population of Filipino expatriates, these transparent and accessible services offer greater control and potentially reduced costs for sending money home, directly impacting their household finances.

Furthermore, the collaboration with Cebu Pacific creates a specific travel incentive, potentially boosting passenger traffic for the airline along key remittance corridors.
