Phuket Luxury Retail Expansion Underway

Central Pattana Plc (CPN) is significantly expanding the luxury retail offerings at its Central Phuket development in Thailand, aiming to solidify its status as a premier global luxury destination. The project, which is over 60% complete, will double the existing luxury zone by adding 14 rai (approximately 2.24 hectares) to the complex.

This expansion forms part of a larger mixed-use development in the heart of Phuket, valued at over 26 billion baht, with the initial phase of the luxury zone set to open in the second quarter of 2027.

New Brands and Exclusive Retail Concepts

The expanded luxury zone will integrate new global brands, notably welcoming Cartier into its tenant roster. This addition builds upon an existing portfolio of 23 international luxury brands and more than 250 fashion and bridge-line labels already present at Central Phuket.

Plans include exclusive retail concepts and larger store formats, such as an expanded Louis Vuitton boutique, a 597 square metre Prada store, and Phuket's first exclusive-concept Bvlgari boutique. Central Phuket remains the sole mall outside Bangkok to host such a concentration of leading luxury brands.

Enhanced Lifestyle and Culinary Offerings

Beyond luxury retail, the expansion introduces new lifestyle and entertainment attractions. This includes an arena for cultural events and entertainment, alongside an aquatic attraction designed to broaden appeal among international visitors. A significant feature is the "Ultimate Culinary Landmark," spanning over 20,000 square metres and gathering more than 150 dining brands.

These range from Michelin-recognised restaurants and international operators to local street food vendors, reflecting CPN’s strategy to position Phuket as a luxurious coastal city offering a complete world-class lifestyle.

Why it matters

This substantial investment by Central Pattana underscores the growing confidence in Phuket’s high-end tourism and retail market. With sales at Central Phuket already ranking among the highest in Thailand for many luxury brands, the expansion aims to capture further international and domestic spending.

Businesses in related sectors, including hospitality and services, can anticipate increased visitor traffic and higher average spending per visitor once the first phase opens in Q2 2027, reinforcing Phuket's economic shift towards premium experiences.
