Adrian Cheng's K11 Xiamen project draws 2 million visits, sales up 32%
Hong Kong developer Adrian Cheng's K11 Select complex in Xiamen, opened on September 22, reported over 2 million visitors and a 32 per cent week-on-week sales increase.

Xiamen K11 Select Opens Strong
Hong Kong developer Adrian Cheng Chi-kong, known for his K11 cultural retail brand, launched the Xiamen K11 Select complex on September 22. This new mainland China venture, a collaboration between Cheng’s K11 by AC Group and state-owned Xiamen Rail Transit Group, has reported strong early performance.
Since its opening in Fujian province, the complex has drawn over 2 million visitors. Furthermore, sales increased by 32 per cent week-on-week, according to a statement released by K11 by AC Group on Monday. This expansion by Cheng operates independently as his family’s New World Development (NWD) faces substantial debt.
Blending Commerce with Culture and Nature
The Xiamen K11 Select complex covers 95,000 square metres. It accommodates around 200 brands, with approximately 80 making their initial national, provincial, or regional appearances. The project's design integrates retail spaces with a focus on wetland conservation and cultural events.
Cheng, the former heir apparent to NWD, positioned the Xiamen site as China's first retail, art, and cultural tourism landmark centred on wetland preservation. He stated its strong operating results demonstrate the effectiveness of K11's "cultural commerce" model, refined over the past 16 years.
The solid initial performance of Xiamen K11 Select provides a significant benchmark for mixed-use retail developments across Asia. Real estate investors and urban planners will closely monitor whether this integrated model can maintain its high visitor engagement and sales momentum beyond the launch period.
The strategy of combining commercial retail with ecological and cultural attractions could shape future urban development, especially in Asian cities aiming to enhance their consumer experiences and differentiate their offerings. Sustained success in Xiamen may prompt similar projects in other key regional markets.
