Thailand's Salary Hero, an earned wage access provider, secured US$7.6 million in Series A funding to support its expansion into Malaysia, targeting 50 corporate partners by late 2027.

Funding Round Details
Thailand-based fintech firm Salary Hero has completed a US$7.6 million Series A funding round to fuel its expansion into Malaysia. Cento Ventures led the investment, with additional participation from Malaysia's Kairous Capital and M Venture Partners.
The earned wage access (EWA) provider also expanded its credit facility with regional lenders, securing an additional US$10 million to support its on-demand pay services. This capital injection follows the company's Q2 2026 entry into the Malaysian market.
Malaysian Market Entry and Targets
Salary Hero initiated its Malaysian operations in the second quarter of 2026, establishing a local team dedicated to forging corporate and distribution alliances. The company aims to collaborate with 50 corporate partners in Malaysia by the close of 2027.
Co-founder and Managing Director Prabhav Rakhra noted the company's proven model in Thailand, which offers a fairer financial solution for workers and commercial appeal for employers, making Malaysia a logical next step for regional growth.
Platform Offerings and Thai Impact
The Salary Hero platform enables employees to access their earned wages before their scheduled payday, reducing reliance on costly short-term credit. Beyond on-demand pay, it provides budgeting tools and financial education programmes. The service integrates with over 25 enterprise HR partners, streamlining payroll processes.
In Thailand, Salary Hero currently serves more than 100 companies and over 300,000 employees across sectors like manufacturing, logistics, hospitality, and retail. The company estimates its services have helped workers avoid US$150 million in high-interest loans.
For employers, Salary Hero reports a 15 to 25 per cent reduction in frontline employee turnover among its Thai clients, suggesting a direct benefit to workforce retention. The company utilises AI tools to analyse anonymised workforce data, helping employers identify turnover risks and implement retention strategies.
This expansion into Malaysia indicates a growing regional trend towards employer-supported financial wellness solutions. Malaysian companies seeking to enhance employee loyalty and financial stability may find such EWA platforms a compelling option for their human resources strategies, potentially reducing operational costs associated with high turnover.
