Philippine Globe network hits 2026 peak performance in August
The telecommunications provider recorded an overall score of 81.5 and average download speeds of 45.9 Mbps, according to the Department of Information and Communications Technology.

August performance highlights
Philippine telecommunications firm Globe registered its best network performance for 2026 in August, as revealed by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). The DICT's latest Telco Report Card showed Globe achieved an overall score of 81.5, an increase of 4.4 points since January this year.
Average download speeds reached a 2026 peak of 45.9 megabits per second (Mbps). This speed marked a 5.1 per cent improvement over July and was 26 per cent higher than the 36.5 Mbps recorded at the start of the year. Network quality also saw an uptick, reaching 71.2 from 69.2, while latency remained stable at 20 milliseconds.
Investments and government collaboration
These improvements stem from Globe's sustained network investments and ongoing cooperation with the Philippine government. The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) actively partners with telecoms providers to enhance service quality and connectivity nationwide.
Globe allocated P26.3 billion in capital expenditures during the first half of 2026, with 91 per cent of this sum directed towards data-related projects. The company also employs Automated Outage Response technology, which can maintain up to 50 per cent of data connectivity during service disruptions, a significant increase from less than 10 per cent without it.
Globe's general counsel, Atty. Froilan Castelo, emphasised the need for a consistently dependable network for customers.
Expanding reach and consistency
The NTC continues its efforts with telecommunications firms to bolster connectivity for Filipino users. In July this year, Globe extended mobile services to 52 Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs) that previously lacked coverage.
This achievement fulfilled its commitment to activate services across all 180 designated project locations under a Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) initiative.
Furthermore, Globe has been acknowledged by Ookla® Speedtest Intelligence® data as the Most Consistent Mobile Provider for four consecutive periods, spanning from the second half of 2024 to the first half of 2026.
Globe's consistent network improvements suggest a tightening competitive landscape within the Philippine telecommunications sector. Enhanced service quality and expanded coverage, particularly in previously unserved areas, can drive greater digital adoption among consumers and businesses.
This performance could prompt rival operators to accelerate their own network upgrades and investment programmes to maintain market share.
For investors, the focus on data-related capital expenditures highlights the ongoing demand for robust digital infrastructure and the potential for further growth in the country's digital economy, supported by government initiatives like the DICT's connectivity programme. Continued regulatory support for infrastructure development will be key for sustained market expansion.
