Vingroup Executive Joins Global Top 1,000

Pham Thu Huong, Vice Chairwoman of Vietnam's largest listed conglomerate, Vingroup, now ranks among the world's 1,000 wealthiest individuals. Her estimated net worth reached US$4.4 billion as of Monday afternoon, placing her 982nd on Forbes' real-time billionaire list. Huong, 57, first joined Forbes' billionaire ranking in February this year. Her fortune has grown significantly, allowing her to enter the top 1,000 this month.

Outpacing Global Celebrities

This wealth places Huong ahead of several prominent international figures. She surpasses American media mogul Oprah Winfrey, whose fortune stands at US$3.4 billion, ranking 1,262nd globally. Huong also holds more wealth than singer Taylor Swift, with a net worth of US$2 billion, ranking 2,086th.

Furthermore, her assets exceed those of musician Beyoncé Knowles, who had US$1 billion, ranking 3,335th globally. Other figures she now outranks include Scale AI co-founder Lucy Guo, writer J.K. Rowling, and singer Rihanna.

Southeast Asia's Second-Richest Woman

Huong is now Southeast Asia's second-richest woman. She trails only Marina Budiman of Indonesia, co-founder and president commissioner of data centre operator DCI Indonesia, whose net worth is approximately US$6 billion. Huong's husband, Pham Nhat Vuong, chairs Vingroup and remains Southeast Asia's wealthiest man.

Vingroup's shares have gained around 50% since the start of this year, contributing substantially to Huong's increased net worth.

Market Performance Drives Regional Wealth

Huong's rise demonstrates how strong public market performance directly builds individual wealth in Asia. Vingroup’s significant share rally this year highlights the capital appreciation potential within the region's large conglomerates. For investors, this shows the direct link between a company's market valuation and the fortunes of its major stakeholders.

This pattern reinforces Southeast Asia’s capacity to generate substantial personal wealth, placing regional business leaders firmly within global wealth rankings.
