Kaiko secures significant capital

New York-based crypto data firm Kaiko has completed a $110 million funding round. S&P Global led this capital injection, which was announced on Monday, 14 September 2026. Additional investors included BNP Paribas, Nasdaq, Royal Bank of Canada, French state investor Bpifrance, and U.S. trading firm Susquehanna. Kaiko, originally established in France in 2014, secured the funds from these prominent financial institutions.

Expansion of data offerings

The newly raised capital will support Kaiko's efforts to enhance its core data business. It also aims to broaden its product portfolio significantly. The company currently provides comprehensive data services covering more than 150 different exchanges and crypto protocols.

This expansion aligns with Kaiko's strategy to strengthen its position as a key provider in the evolving digital asset market.

Mainstream interest in digital assets

This investment shows a growing appetite among traditional financial institutions for digital asset markets. This interest persists even as cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin have retreated from their peak values, which were recorded in late 2025.

Banks and exchange operators are increasingly exploring 'tokenisation', which involves creating crypto tokens that represent conventional financial assets, such as stocks and bonds.

Why it matters

Cathy Clay, CEO of S&P Dow Jones Indices, stated this investment shows S&P Global's conviction in the future of digital assets. For Asian markets, this trend suggests increased institutional infrastructure for crypto data. Local financial firms and exchanges in Singapore and Hong Kong may see similar partnerships or funding rounds. This could accelerate their own digital asset initiatives and data capabilities in the region.
