Digital payments firm GCash partnered with Mindanao-based retailer EMCOR to introduce scan-to-pay and installment options. This collaboration covers 174 branches, extending digital finance to new areas.

GCash Expands Footprint in Southern Philippines
Digital payments provider GCash partnered with EMCOR, Mindanao's largest retailer. This collaboration introduces new digital payment options across EMCOR's 174 branches. The initiative extends GCash's services into Mindanao, Visayas, and Palawan. GCash aims to broaden its cashless ecosystem in these underserved regions. The partnership directly addresses a need for more accessible financial services.
New Payment Flexibility through GBills
The partnership brings scan-to-pay features to EMCOR retail locations. It also integrates EMCOR into GCash’s GBills platform. GBills facilitates financial transactions with government and private billers. This addition allows consumers to utilise monthly installment plans for purchases.
GCash regional business unit head Tania Padilla confirmed the launch of flexible installments. This makes paying for home essentials more convenient, Padilla stated.
EMCOR Targets Wider Customer Reach
EMCOR, a significant retailer of home goods, appliances, and vehicles, will use this tie-up to expand its customer base. EMCOR president and chief operating officer Nelson Aparejo noted the partnership capitalises on digital payment trends. Customers across their 174 branches can now pay instantly via scan-to-pay. They can also manage installments remotely through GBills. Aparejo views this as a significant upgrade, simplifying customer lives.
Driving Digital Finance Adoption in Key Regions
This partnership demonstrates a push for digital finance adoption in the Visayas and Mindanao regions. For businesses, this means increased transaction efficiency and broader market access. Consumers gain greater payment flexibility for essential goods. The expansion of digital payment infrastructure in these areas could drive further economic activity. It also supports financial inclusion for populations outside major urban centres.
