Platform for Business Clients

Financial technology firm FIS has launched its Digital One Commercial banking platform across Asia-Pacific. This system allows banks to serve various business clients, from SMEs to large enterprises, across multiple markets. It functions without requiring banks to replace their existing core technology, a key benefit for institutions managing legacy infrastructure.

The APAC rollout completes the platform’s global deployment, following its earlier availability in the United States and EMEA regions.

Integrated Capabilities

The platform features an API-first architecture, integrating with accounting and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. It supports real-time payments, including local schemes like PayNow, GIRO, and FAST, alongside international systems such as SWIFT/ISO. Digital One Commercial also handles cash management, trade finance, foreign exchange, and corporate treasury. The system supports multiple currencies, time zones, and regional languages.

Current Adoption and Rationale

One Asia-Pacific bank already uses Digital One Commercial across 15 countries on a single instance, FIS reported. This deployment serves approximately 350,000 business customers and over one million end users. Peter Boyer, Co-President for Banking Solutions at FIS, stated that APAC's commercial banking landscape is complex.

He noted many banks operate with separate systems for individual markets, rather than a unified regional approach. The platform helps banks consolidate their commercial banking operations.

Why it matters

This launch provides Asian banks a pathway to greater operational efficiency and expanded regional reach. By integrating diverse services on one platform, financial institutions can reduce the cost and complexity of managing multiple legacy systems.

This capability enables banks to offer more cohesive cross-border services, potentially streamlining treasury functions and payment processing for multinational businesses operating within Asia. It could drive more unified financial services delivery across the region.
