Enrique Razon Jr. Becomes Philippines' Richest on ICTSI Global Push
Ports magnate Enrique Razon Jr. is now the Philippines' wealthiest individual. His company, International Container Services (ICTSI), drove his net worth higher through international expansion and record earnings.

Razon Tops National Wealth List
Enrique Razon Jr. ranks as the Philippines' richest person this year, marking his first time leading the national wealth list since 2007. Forbes, in its early August update, valued his net worth at $21.8 billion. His fortune grew by $10.3 billion over the past year. This rise directly links to the global expansion of his port operations.
ICTSI, Razon's port operator, shows significant share price appreciation. Its shares have more than doubled in the past year, making ICTSI the country's most valuable publicly traded company.
ICTSI Drives Record Earnings and Global Footprint
International Container Services (ICTSI) posted record earnings in 2025. Net profit rose 23% to $1.1 billion, while revenue increased 18% to $3.2 billion. Razon, ICTSI's chairman and president, expanded operations globally. In December 2025, ICTSI signed a 25-year joint venture agreement in South Africa.
This deal with state-owned Transnet operates a container terminal at the Port of Durban. Durban handles nearly half of South Africa's port traffic. ICTSI plans nearly $650 million in facility upgrades there. That same month, ICTSI announced a $175 million expansion for its Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, terminal.
Domestic Investments and Diversified Holdings
ICTSI also commits $1 billion to Philippine projects. These include upgrading its flagship Manila port and constructing a new container terminal in Batangas province, south of the capital. Maybank, in a June 2026 research report, notes these investments. They will support "sustained compounding of earnings over the long term." Razon further diversifies his investments.
He holds interests in casinos, energy, and mining. In March 2026, Prime Infrastructure Capital, his privately held firm, acquired SierraCol Energy. SierraCol is a Colombian oil and gas producer, bought from private equity firm Carlyle.
ICTSI's aggressive expansion strategy demonstrates confidence in capital deployment across key trade corridors. This growth in port capacity directly impacts global supply chains. Shippers can expect increased efficiency and competition in crucial hubs. The new Durban terminal, for instance, boosts African trade connectivity.
ICTSI's domestic investments reinforce Philippine infrastructure, supporting local trade flows and economic activity. Investors will watch for continued earnings growth from these projects, with future capital expenditure announcements guiding market sentiment.
