Dongkuk Steel Concludes UK Architecture Tour for Fellowship Cohort
Dongkuk Steel Group has completed a UK architectural study tour for its initial cohort of Songwon Future Architecture Talent Fellowship students. The programme promotes the company’s Luxteel brand and supports future design talent.

Fellowship Programme Concludes
Dongkuk Steel Group has completed a seven-day architectural study tour in the UK for its first cohort of 2026 Songwon Future Architecture Talent Fellowship students. Seven participants, known as "Luxteeliers", visited London between 4 and 10 August.
This programme aims to provide direct exposure to architectural design principles and eco-friendly building materials, promoting the company’s Luxteel brand.
London Itinerary Focused on Design
The "Luxteeliers" were selected in May through a rigorous process involving document screening, interviews, and an orientation programme. Their London itinerary explored the city’s diverse architecture across five key themes.
Stops included iconic historical sites like Buckingham Palace and Big Ben, alongside modern structures such as Bloomberg’s European headquarters and the Leadenhall Building. A visit to Heatherwick Studio was also a highlight.
Future Collaborations Explored
Dongkuk is now investigating further collaborative opportunities with Heatherwick Studio. These discussions include potential workshops at the studio’s Makers Room, where architectural models are produced using various materials.
Ricardo Sosa-Mejia, a senior associate at Heatherwick Studio, praised the students' insightful questions and unique perspectives on global architecture. Participants indicated that experiencing these buildings firsthand significantly deepened their understanding of design.
This fellowship initiative supports the professional development of architecture students, while also highlighting Dongkuk’s eco-friendly finishing materials, particularly its Luxteel brand. For Asian construction and design sectors, such corporate programmes show a strategic investment in nurturing future talent and influencing material specifications.
Dongkuk plans to select its second fellowship cohort in the first half of next year, demonstrating a sustained commitment to this long-term branding and talent pipeline.
