DBS PayLah! Connects Singapore Users to 250,000 Taiwan QR Merchants
The Singapore bank's mobile payment service now covers two-thirds of Taiwan's TWQR network, with full integration expected by 2027.

Taiwan QR Network Coverage Expands
DBS PayLah! users in Singapore can now conduct QR code payments at over 250,000 merchants across Taiwan. This expansion covers approximately two-thirds of Taiwan's TWQR merchant network. DBS expects to achieve full network coverage throughout the participating TWQR merchant base by 2027.
This move makes DBS the first Singaporean bank to offer its customers direct access to the TWQR system, enhancing convenience for over three million PayLah! users travelling to Taiwan.
Underlying Cross-Border Payment Framework
The current rollout follows a cross-border payment initiative announced in April 2026 by Singapore's NETS and Taiwan's Financial Information Service Co. (FISC), the developer of the TWQR network. PayLah! users can scan eligible TWQR codes from various providers, including iPass Money, Taiwan Pay, PXPay Plus, and Easy Wallet.
Taiwan joins Indonesia’s QRIS, Malaysia’s DuitNow, Thailand’s PromptPay, and UnionPay as part of DBS’s growing cross-border QR payment coverage.
Future Enhancements and Bidirectional Payments
DBS plans further enhancements for 2027, including the ability for PayLah! users to scan QR codes at all participating TWQR merchants, such as those accepting JKO Pay. The bank will also introduce a merchant-scan-customer payment option, enabling major Taiwanese retailers to scan QR codes generated by PayLah! users.
Concurrently, DBS Bank Taiwan, acting as the settlement agent, will facilitate payments in the opposite direction, allowing DBS customers in Taiwan to use their digibank app to scan SGQR codes at Singaporean merchants.
Driving Digital Payment Adoption
Chan Sow Han, Head of Payments and Unsecured Lending, Consumer Banking Group at DBS Singapore, reported a 2.5 times year-on-year increase in transaction volumes for the bank’s cross-border QR payment services. The number of unique users also doubled over the same period. To encourage adoption, DBS will offer cashback of up to S$3 for new users of its overseas QR payment service.
This promotion runs from 16 November 2026 to 31 January 2027, covering QR payments made in Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia without a minimum spending requirement.
