CapitaLand Investment Reduces 90 Singapore Jobs in 2026 Restructuring
CapitaLand Investment (CLI) cut 90 roles in Singapore during 2026, representing about 4 per cent of its local workforce. This move forms part of an ongoing organisational restructuring.

Singapore Workforce Adjustments
CapitaLand Investment (CLI) reduced its Singapore workforce by 90 staff in 2026. These job cuts affect approximately 4 per cent of its local employees. The company confirmed this action, which forms part of an organisational restructuring. The Singapore Industrial and Services Employees’ Union was informed in advance. It has engaged with CLI throughout this process. The union ensures fair treatment and appropriate severance packages for affected employees.
Strategic Organisational Review
CLI stated it routinely evaluates its organisational structure. This ensures alignment with strategic priorities and long-term business needs. The real estate manager has about 2,200 employees in Singapore. Most of these staff work from its Capital Tower office. CLI and the union jointly affirmed their priority in supporting employees. Where appropriate, the company will consider redeployment opportunities within the group.
Portfolio Optimisation Efforts
CLI's chief executive, Lee Chee Koon, mentioned the firm considers divesting a stake in its hospitality business. This arm is The Ascott Limited. Such a move aims to accelerate growth. The company reported a 13.9 per cent increase in net profit. This reached S$327 million for the first half of the financial year ended June 30. This figure is up from S$287 million a year prior.
These adjustments demonstrate CLI's focus on operational efficiency. They also support its capital redeployment strategy. Investors will monitor further portfolio optimisation efforts. Any Ascott divestment would free capital for new ventures or debt reduction. This could sharpen CLI's focus on core real estate investment management. It reinforces a strategic shift towards asset-light growth.
