Strong Investor Demand for IPO

Molbio Diagnostics will list on India’s National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE on Monday, 17 August 2026. The company’s initial public offering (IPO) generated substantial interest, oversubscribed 70.26 times overall. Qualified institutional buyers (QIBs) showed particularly strong demand, subscribing 186.39 times their allocated portion.

Non-institutional investors (NIIs) subscribed 49.80 times, while retail investors bid for 12.96 times their quota, according to NSE data. The company finalised share allotments on Thursday, 13 August 2026, following the IPO subscription period from 10 August 2026 to 12 August 2026. Shares were priced between ₹768 and ₹807 each.

Capital Raising and Strategic Use of Funds

The IPO comprised a fresh issue of shares worth ₹200 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) of 91.66 lakh shares, which raised ₹739.70 crore. Molbio Diagnostics intends to deploy the fresh issue proceeds into several strategic initiatives. These plans include establishing a research and development facility and a centre of excellence through its wholly owned subsidiary, Bigtec.

Funds will also cover capital expenditure for connected office spaces for Molbio Diagnostics, its subsidiaries, and associates. Furthermore, a portion will acquire plant, machinery, and other equipment for its Goa Unit I, Goa Unit II, and Visakhapatnam Unit, with remaining funds allocated for general corporate purposes.

Kotak Mahindra Capital Company, IIFL Capital Services, Jefferies India, and Motilal Oswal Investment Advisors managed the offering.

Market Expectations and Company Overview

Market trends suggest Molbio Diagnostics shares could debut above their issue price. The latest grey market premium (GMP) stood at ₹125, indicating a potential listing price of ₹932. This represents a premium of approximately 15.49% over the upper issue price of ₹807. Analysts from Kantilal Chhaganlal Securities and INVasset PMS predict a 14–16% listing premium on Monday.

Molbio Diagnostics operates as a point-of-care (POC) diagnostics firm, focusing on providing accessible, rapid, and affordable healthcare technologies for diagnosing infectious and non-communicable diseases. The company has demonstrated increasing operational revenue: ₹836.56 crore in FY24, ₹1,020.42 crore in FY25, and ₹1,445.69 crore in FY26.

Why it matters

The strong IPO demand for Molbio Diagnostics reveals investor appetite for India's healthcare and diagnostics sector. For investors, the initial listing premium will be a key metric. Mahesh M Ojha, VP Research & Business Development at Kantilal Chhaganlal Securities, notes that long-term investors may consider holding the stock, citing long-term growth opportunities.

However, Harshal Dasani, Business Head – INVasset PMS, highlights that sustained growth, recurring test-kit revenues, international expansion, and successful R&D commercialisation will determine long-term returns beyond initial listing momentum.

The company's ability to maintain its revenue growth trajectory, as seen from FY24 to FY26, will be critical for its valuation post-listing.
