Mastercard, BVNK launch global fiat, stablecoin payments platform
The new Mastercard Global Money Platform, integrating BVNK's technology, offers a single API for banks and fintechs to manage diverse currencies and digital assets.

New unified payments infrastructure
Mastercard and BVNK have launched the Global Money Platform, a new offering designed to simplify multi-currency transactions. This platform marks the first significant integration of capabilities since Mastercard acquired BVNK in August this year.
It provides banks, fintech companies, and other enterprises with a single application programming interface (API) to hold, convert, pay out, and spend both traditional fiat currencies and stablecoins. The companies aim to streamline the complex process of moving money internationally, reducing the need for multiple providers.
Tools for businesses and early adopters
Businesses can embed various features directly into their own products under their brand. These include multi-currency accounts, real-time currency conversion, stablecoin-linked cards, and local bank payouts. The platform also supports internal treasury, payments, and settlement operations.
Early adopters integrating the platform include payments firm Nuvei, card issuing platform Marqeta, and fintech companies Ontop, Beem, and Almond FinTech. The core global money account allows fiat and stablecoins to exist side-by-side, facilitating conversion through its single API.
Expanding global reach
The Global Money Platform connects into Mastercard Move, the company’s extensive money movement portfolio, which reaches over 17 billion endpoints globally. Users can draw on stablecoin balances to send local currency payments directly into recipients' bank accounts.
Mastercard expects payout coverage to expand significantly in 2027, reaching more than 40 currencies across over 200 countries and territories. Customers can also spend their stablecoin balances across Mastercard’s vast acceptance network, which includes hundreds of millions of merchant locations, with card issuing available in over 130 countries.
For Asian businesses involved in international trade or remittances, this platform could simplify cross-border operations. Companies in Singapore, Vietnam, or Malaysia, for instance, often deal with multiple currencies for payments and receivables.
The platform's ability to consolidate liquidity management and conversions in one place could reduce operational costs and working capital tied up in disparate accounts. The planned expansion of payout coverage to over 200 countries in 2027 will directly benefit Asian firms looking for more efficient global payment solutions, particularly for stablecoin integration.
