Nifty 50 Technicals Show Strength

Sumeet Bagadia, Executive Director at Choice Broking, provided a cautiously positive near-term bias for India's Nifty 50 index on 26 August 2026. He states the Nifty 50 chart pattern shows stronger buying interest. The 50-stock index reclaimed its 50-Day EMA (Exponential Moving Average) near 24,197. This move strengthens the near-term market outlook. Immediate support for the Nifty 50 index sits at 24,100–24,180. The broader key support level is 24,000.

Derivatives Data Supports Nifty

The derivatives setup for the Nifty 50 also improved, Bagadia noted. The Put-Call Ratio (PCR), a gauge of market sentiment, stands at 1.08. Put Open Interest (OI), representing options to sell, concentrates around 24,300–24,200. This creates a supportive base. Conversely, Call OI, representing options to buy, clusters around 24,350–24,500. This may restrict upward movement.

A sustained move above 24,400–24,450 would confirm further strength. Failure to hold 24,180–24,100 could see profit booking.

Bank Nifty Remains Range-Bound

The Bank Nifty index, despite a recent rebound, remains within its broader consolidation range. It continues trading around its short-term moving averages. A rising trendline provides underlying support for the index. The immediate support zone is 57,200–57,360, while 57,700–57,850 acts as key resistance. Holding above 57,200 maintains the current recovery structure.

A sustained breakout above 57,850 could spur fresh buying. The index will likely remain range-bound otherwise. Bagadia also provided buy recommendations for five specific Indian stocks.

Why it matters

This cautiously positive outlook from Choice Broking suggests Indian equities may see continued upward momentum, particularly if the Nifty 50 sustains above its resistance levels. For Asian investors, India remains a significant market. Technical indicators and derivatives data provide actionable levels for monitoring market direction.

A decisive breakout in either the Nifty 50 or Bank Nifty would clarify short-term trends, influencing capital allocation decisions for funds tracking the subcontinent. The identified support and resistance levels offer clear markers for potential entry or exit points.
