Thai Rice Showcase in Manila

Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce, supported by its Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) and Department of Foreign Trade (DFT), recently featured its premium rice. The showcase occurred at the World Food Expo (WOFEX) 2026 in Manila, Philippines. The "Think Rice, Think Thailand" campaign led this participation. This effort aims to reinforce trade ties between Thailand and the Philippines. It also seeks to build greater market recognition for Thai rice internationally.

Diverse Varieties and Culinary Demonstrations

The Thailand Pavilion at WOFEX 2026 displayed a wide selection of premium Thai rice. These included Thai Hom Mali Rice, Riceberry Rice, Sangyod Rice, and Chumphae Rice. Thai Fragrant Rice and Thai White Rice were also presented. Chefs from Thai SELECT restaurants in the Philippines conducted live cooking demonstrations. These events highlighted authentic Thai dishes. Different Thai rice varieties were used in these culinary presentations.

Strengthening Trade Partnerships

Sutinee Vathana, Director of the Thai Trade Center in Manila, emphasised Thailand's dedication to promoting premium Thai rice. She highlighted strengthening partnerships with Philippine importers, distributors, and retailers. Food service operators also formed part of this focus. The "Think Rice, Think Thailand" campaign generates new avenues for bilateral trade. It also fosters business cooperation between the two nations.

Why it matters

For Philippine businesses, this initiative offers direct access to a broader range of Thai rice products. It can diversify their supply chains and provide new premium options for consumers. Thai rice exporters gain direct market entry and partnership prospects within a key Southeast Asian market. This strengthens agricultural trade flows across the region. It also supports Thailand’s position as a significant rice supplier.
